Description
This 2014 Toyota Camry race car is said to have been built as a back-up car for NASCAR racer Clint Bowyer and has been set up for the Sonoma road course. Acquired by the current owner in 2019, the car wears composite 2014 Toyota Camry bodywork and is powered by a 358ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional features include a full roll cage, a rear-mounted fuel cell, a fire suppression system, Sparco bucket seats with Schroth Racing harnesses, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15” steel wheels mounted with Goodyear Eagle slicks. This Michael Waltrip Racing race car #743 is now offered in California with a camera video and timing system and a bill of sale.
The bodywork is wrapped in a #15 5-hour ENERGY livery with various sponsor decals and is mounted over a tube-frame chassis that is marked as Michael Waltrip Racing #743. Features include an adjustable rear spoiler, reinforcement strips on the front and rear windows, front brake cooling ducts, hood pins, and decals mimicking the headlights and taillights from a 2014 Toyota Camry.
Black-painted 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 27.50×12 Goodyear Eagle slick tires showing 2019 and 2020 date codes. Stopping power is provided by AP Racing calipers over ventilated and scalloped rotors at all four corners. The car is equipped with an AP Racing brake proportioning valve located in the cockpit.
The cabin is painted grey and features an integrated roll cage, a fire suppression system, window nets, wiring for radio communications, and a three-camera with video and timing systems as well as Sparco fixed-back bucket seats with head restraints and Schroth Racing six-point harnesses.
A three-spoke MPI steering wheel with a quick-release sits ahead of a STACK 11k-rpm tachometer with a digital display as well as auxiliary toggle switches and a battery disconnect switch. No odometer is present, therefore total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the vehicle is equipped with an hour-meter, which currently read 24 hours, 15 of which were added under current ownership.
The 358ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Features include an MSD electronic ignition controller, a trunk-mounted fuel cell, and a rear differential that has been set up for road course duties.
